Landscape Photography

Landscape photography can show vast or microscopic spaces within the world. Photographers usually capture the presence of nature, but some also show man-made things or disturbances of landscapes.


Charlie Waite

Charlie Waite was born in 1949. He is an English photographer who specialises in landscape photography. For 10 years he worked in theatre and television and then moved onto photography. In 2014, he was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Photographic Society. He has published many books on photography and contributes regularly to photography magazines. He also lectures in the UK, Europe, and the USA. He is part of a photographic tour company called Light and Land.

The use of the dark blue sky contrasts with the use of the bright yellow of the flowers. With the tree centred in the middle, it gives the impression that this is the main focus of the picture but the viewers eyes are automatically drawn to the brightness of the sunflowers, which contrasts to the plain green of the tree.








Chip Phillips

Chip Phillips is a photographer based in Washington. He began photography in 2006 when his father gave him an old Pentax Spotmatic film SLR camera. He loved the outdoors, and so decided to focus on landscape photography. Phillips is also a professionally trained classical musician, he performs as Principal Clarinet with the Spokane Symphony Orchestra and is Professor of Clarinet at Gonzaga University. His images have been used in many books and magazines, including Outdoor Photographer, National Geographic, etc. Phillips won 1st and 2nd place in the landscapes category of Digital Camera magazine's Photographer of the Year contest in 2006. He is a founding member of Photocascadia, a group consisting of some of the top photographers in the Pacific Northwest.




Ross Hoddinott

Ross Hoddinott is one of the top landscape and wildlife photographers in the UK. He has been doing photography full time and professionally since 1997, supplying photographs and undertaking commissions for a wide range of publications and clients worldwide. Hoddinott has written 8 books about photography and is a multi award winner. He is based in the South West of England and is mostly known for his macro and close-up photographs, and also for evocative landscape photos (particularly in Devon, Cornwall, & Dorset).




















My Own Attempt:
For my own attempt at landscape photography, I went to the Highfields and Wollaton Park.
