Rosie Anne

Rosie Anne was born in the Black Mountain region of Wales. She had a very rural upbringing, as she grew up on a farm. Anne says that rural life has made a significant impact on who she is and the type of photography that she does.

Objectively, this image shows a woman with brown hair sat with her legs crossed under a large tree. There are lots of pages and pieces of paper hanging up in the tree above her. She is white shirt and a black cardigan. There is a wooden box in front of her and the pages seem to be coming out from the box. Her head is tipped back and her eyes are closed. Around her is grass, leaves, trees, and branches. There are no other people in this image.
Subjectively, this image makes me feel wondrous. The setting in the forest makes me think of adventures. The image seems almost childlike, and gives off a feeling of innocence. This relates quite a lot to my younger sister, Poppy, as her autism and learning difficulties mean that she will always be in a state of childlike innocence.

My attempt

These photos are a response to Rosie Anne's photo Thoughts To The Wind. I changes it slightly, by using books instead of letters and pieces of paper.

I also tried hanging pages up in trees to try and get the effect, however the wind made it impossible and so I took them down as I thought that it was ruining the effect of the photograph.
The model for these set of photographs is my younger sister, Poppy. She has severe autism and learning difficulties, which makes it vary hard for her to communicate with the outside world.
I would like to base my weird and wonderful project on my sister and her life living with autism. She is, and always will be, very child-like, which I feel fits in with my Weird and Wonderful theme of books, fairytales, escapism, etc.
I have decided that I want to do this photo-shoot again, but this time I would like to do it when it's a bit later, so it's slightly darker. I will also use fairy lights to wrap around the branches of the trees behind her.

For my second photo-shoot, I used the same location but this time I took some fairy lights with me.

I also wanted it to be darker than it was the first time, so I went at a slightly later time.

As it was later it was also colder and so Poppy got quite upset by this. But I think that I did manage to get some  quite good photos.

As it was so dark, it was hard to get a photo with the right amount of lighting and that was in focus and I did manage to get some.

I want to try this photo-shoot one last time. I will go slightly earlier than this attempt, but later than the last attempt so that it's not so dark.

For the third attempt, I went at an earlier than the last one so that it was lighter, as with the last photo-shoot it was very dark and hard to get a good picture.

In all three of these photo-shoots, she was wearing the same dress, which is her favourite one. As this is her favourite dress, I want to have this in all or most of the photos I take of her
